{"id":371,"date":"2020-10-15T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spendayearwithjesus.com\/djp\/?p=371"},"modified":"2018-04-22T13:00:46","modified_gmt":"2018-04-22T18:00:46","slug":"4-months-in-4-chapters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spendayearwithjesus.com\/djp\/?p=371","title":{"rendered":"4 months in 4 chapters: John 7-10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Times passes quickly in the Gospel accounts.<\/p>\n<p>John 7-10 record events happening in a period from the Feast of Huts (aka Tabernacles) in the early fall to the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) during the winter.<\/p>\n<p>In the opening paragraphs of John 7, the conversation between Jesus and his brothers occurs before the pilgrims\u00a0of Upper Galilee had begun their five day journey to Jerusalem for the Feast of Huts.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of John 7, when Jesus stands and shouts to the\u00a0thirsty (7:37-38),\u00a0the events take place at the end of the seven day fall feast. In John 10, the mention of the Feast of Dedication moves the time\u00a0to the winter.<\/p>\n<p>More events transpire in the city of Jerusalem in John 8 and 9. The reader has to decide whether these events coincide with the sequence\u00a0of John 7 and 10, or whether they are inserted for effect.
